"I dont know. Benson realizes Millfield, the New Jersey captain, is the one who tipped the feds off to her and angrily confronts her about it. When Newsom asks Stabler to elaborate on that, he says, "When I lost my wife, that was the very clear definition of an ending.". And I guess neither do you, Wheatley adds before Benson walks away. At this point, Benson starts reciting back lines from the letter, that she has memorized, including that what Benson and Stabler were to each other was never real and they got in the way of each other being who and where they needed to be. In later seasons, Rollins ends up in a romantic relationship with her former partner and ADA Dominick Sonny Carisi (Peter Scanavino). The Christmas Episode was an actual gift to Benson and Stabler fans since it was peppered with some of the best-ever moments between the two. Bensons longtime friend and former SVU ADA Rafael Barba (Ral Esparza), decides to defend Wheatley, much to Bensons dismay. In fact, Stabler made a very big apparent confession about his feelings for Benson in "Whipping Post" and didn't remember doing so until another woman mentioned it. Stabler goes to New Jersey, where viewers are introduced to his mom, Bernadette Bernie Stabler (Ellen Burstyn), for the first time. The history between the two is "complicated," as Hargitay told TODAY in February. He told me to trust him, and I know him better than anyone, Benson says. "You walked away," Benson told him, revealing that Cragan was the one to tell her about Stabler's decision. Then, Stabler transitions to talking about the one other woman who has been such a crucial part of his life for decades. Cragen tells her to go home, and Benson storms into the locker room, where Stabler finds her and confronts her about her behavior. Benson mentions his anger issues and that bottling it up inside hasnt worked for him. When they pull apart, Benson breaks their silence and intense, emotional stare by asking if Stabler picked a name for the baby. In the beginning, Benson met with Stabler to hand over the files at a park, where Stabler met Noah. At the last minute, he spins around and pulls Benson into a hug. You give him stability, Kathy says. Near the end of the episode, Stabler actually does just that and acknowledges that he now views the loss of his wife as a permanent ending. Our feelings dont matter, Porter responds. Cragen then informs Benson and Stabler that Porter and the suspect are off the hook since the situation is out of their hands. Stabler mentions the risks of Kathy having their most recent child since she was over the age of 40. Bernie instantly remembers that something bad happened to Stablers wife, and he assures her its OK. I know I missed it, but I was going to attend, Bernie begins. You offering to be my partner?
